New look, same mission for Infectious Diseases in Children

Our mission is to help you stay abreast of the latest information in child health.

March 2005

This month’s issue of Infectious Diseases in Children sports a facelift, but the inside contains the same great content you have come to expect from us … only better! Our mission has always been to help you stay abreast of the latest information you need to treat children, and that mission has not changed in 18 years.

News coverage of medical meetings and reports from the AAP, FDA, ACIP and others are still here, as is all the timely and relevant clinical information you can use in your daily practice.

We’ve streamlined our look to make it better organized and easier to read ... Each section is color-coded to make finding the information you want easier. And we still feature a special section each month devoted to one hot topic in pediatrics.

But as we’ve grown, our newspaper has become harder to negotiate. So we’ve streamlined our look. The result is an Infectious Diseases in Children that is better organized and easier to read.

The front of the newspaper will always present breaking news and commentary featuring the latest information about child health, as well as the great columnists you love: “From the Editor” by Philip A. Brunell, MD; “What’s Your Diagnosis?” by James H. Brien, DO; “Pharmacology Consult” by Ed Bell, PharmD, BCPS; and “Clinical Practice Primer” by Richard Schwartz, MD, and Stan Block, MD.

Over the years, we’ve expanded our coverage because your practice is more than just infectious diseases. Therefore, news of general pediatrics and asthma and allergy coverage continues along with reports on vaccine-preventable, respiratory and other infectious diseases. We have also added several specialists in all of these areas to our editorial board, to give you well-rounded news coverage. We meet regularly with these experts to make sure our editorial is on target.

Each section is color-coded to make finding the information you want easier. And we still feature a special section each month devoted to one hot topic in pediatrics.

Our reporters go everywhere, so you don’t have to. Our reporters — trained journalists — travel to meetings and symposia around the country to find out what’s new in clinical practice, because we know you can’t always leave your busy practice to attend them. And we give this information to you faster than any other print publication — journal or newspaper.

You might be asking why we don’t leave well enough alone. The answer is easy: We believe that we can always be better. If you like or dislike what we are doing, please let me know. I can be reached at mrosenthal@slackinc.com. Your opinions and your ideas are important to us, and we look forward to hearing from you.
